Racism? Get a life

Racism certainly will continue to exist after the monumental election of the First African/American/caucasian president of the US but I don't think you can claim the US is a racist country. The clear majority that President-elect Obama received in this past presidential election shows what each of us has experienced: when we have information about someone of a different race, when we work with him or her, socialize with them or see them on TV on a regular basis, we elevate them above their race and think of them as individuals. If they foul up we send them back to their racial stereotype, but if they don't we accept them on the basis of what we know. This is true for blacks as well as whites and I think it's true even within races. Whether it's the Italians, Irish, Polish or Jew or just the Hatfields and McCoys, we are all quick to judge a book by its cover, and nationality, color and religion are the common covers. It's time to get past yelling racism everytime there's an apparent injustice and start expecting the best of our neighbor(s): red and yellow, black and white. Yelling racism just got old. Thank God!!!!!!!!
